"I have seen grail diaries come and go... This is a work of art! ...I cannot praise Indy Magnoli's work enough... It is a keepsake worthy of a place of honor in any film memorabilia buffs collection."
-Patterson

This detailed reproduction of Henry Jones, Sr.'s famous Grail diary is accurate down to the

last detail. First, the book is hand-cut and stitched together using old fashioned book-binding techniques: the 228 pages are put together in the same ream configuration as the original prop; the pages are not simply glued together as are paperback novels.

The book is then covered in gorgeous brown leather and aged by hand using three seperate techniques. For more information on the various covers used on the diary, please see the blank diary page.

The pages themselves are each a work of art:
-there are 228 total pages (the exact number as in the original prop), 24 of which are blank (again, as in the original)
-55 of the pages are based directly on pages known to be in the original prop
-there are 128 pages of drawings and sketches including sixteen different maps
-no countless repetition of text pages: the entire diary reads as a story; Henry makes discoveries, follows up leads and researches various contenders to the title of Grail
-details on pages are crisp and clear

Since the pages are hand cut and the book is bound by hand, it is the exact size of the original (apx 6 3/4", 4 1/4", 1 1/4"), fitting snuggly into a Wested leather jacket cargo pocket.

I also made for the diary a ton of replica inserts
(including 11 pieces seen in the film):

Grail Tablet Rubbing with upper portion complete,
A full, two-sided George Washington quote sheet,
Two LARY transfer tickets,
Three letters from friends and collegues (including envelopes),
1899 Silver Certificate (printed in color),
Venice museum ticket,
Cunard steamship ticket (seen to the right),
Henry Jones, Sr. lecture ticket,
Two train/ferry timetables (both double-sided),
Photo of Henry and Young Indy,
Italian telegram with clues,
Eschenbach scrap,
Roman numeral scrap,
Zeppelin ticket filled out in Hitler's preferred gothic script,
Three news paper articles (one about Indy's adventures),
Memorial card of Anna Jones,
Stone vessel scrap,
Turkish night club coupon,
Letter from Henry to Indy,
Welsh poem translation on a "Tavern Rules" sheet,
Letter to Indy (complete with envelope as seen in the film)

Many of the above inserts can be seen on the Inserts page of this site and are available for individual purchase or as a set without the diary.

I also made this replica wrapper in which the diary was shipped to Indy. It is complete with replica Italian stamps and Venice postmarks. (

This is an extremely accurate replica, down to the last detail. The stitched, elastic band can be put vertically (as in the film) or horizontally (as in the archives book).

For fellow replica artists, I can make a blank book, hand-stitched and bound in leather with the elastic band... the perfect start to your own replica... or just a great travel journal! I can also pre-age the diary for you, by request.
